Noble Sqaure

Noble Square, a north western neighborhood in Chicago, is bordered by the Kennedy Expressway on the east, Ashland Avenue on the west, Grand Avenue on the south, and runs up to Bloomingdale to the North. The neighborhood has an urban and edgy atmosphere, and is often overshadowed by Wicker Park.
Architecture
While Noble Square was once full of classic styles, it was one of the first to be hit by the housing boom, and many of the older homes have been rebuilt in the last ten years…or knocked down and replaced by towering condos. But the area still has plenty of houses and apartments.
Rentals
Noble Square is close to just about everything (downtown, the train, and the express way are all just a stone’s throw away). Hence, some of the premium rental spots are real bargains. One bedroom apartments tend to go for $600 - $900. Two bedrooms (not nearly as rare as one bedrooms) go for $750 - $1,400. Three bedrooms (especially the large rehabbed apartments) go anywhere from $900 - $1,800.
Sales
Condo Sales in Noble Park are probably more common than rentals and houses. Their prices might occasionally dip to the $250,000 level, but not often. The majority of condos sell from $300,000 to $450,000.

The housing market in Noble Square is such that we hesitate to put any sweeping price range on it. The majority of the housing stock here is multi-unit buildings, and even those transactions are few and far between. So the small number of sales makes it impossible to give an accurate price range. Call us for more information and to view possible listings.
Schools
Noble Park offers a variety of public and parochial schools, along with access to several schools outside the immediate Noble Square boundaries. Lozano Specialty Public School on Cleaver Street takes on students pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. Near North Montessori School teaches the same grades, and they’re located to the north on Division. And on Noble Street, teens can attend high school at Noble Street Charter School.
Dining
Noble Square offers something for every pallet. Wok’s Happening on Jackson Boulevard is a perfect lunch spot for Chinese food lovers. The place is also great for business meetings or work gatherings. For fine dining, the Green Zebra is one of the hottest spots in Chicago…and one of the hardest places to land a reservation. And for the Italian food crowd, Corosh has earned its reputation as a classy favorite. Patrons enjoy their meals while admiring the modern art exhibits.
Night Life
The night life in Noble Square is as alive as ever. The Exit, located in the northern end of Noble Park, is one of the hottest Punk Rock dance clubs in Chicago. DJs spin nightly and keep the caged dance floor moving. For a quieter evening, residents can go to Betty's Blue Star Lounge where live bands and DJs mix up the dance floor, but early evening provides a quiet talking spot. And for those who are VERY low key, Idle Hour Lounge provides a good watering hole to relax.
Fun Facts
The streets in Chicago were raised in the 1890s, but much of Noble Square still remains below street level. As such, the area seems to be disappearing from existence. In the 2000 census, Noble Square was listed as West Town. But the northern area of Noble Square is often included as the eastern side of Wicker Park.
